Best Time to Visit: Canmore’s climate is influenced by its mountainous location. Summer is my personal favorite time to go, although it is tourist peak season, with temperatures ranging from 59 to 77F (or 19 to 25 C). It’s the perfect time for outdoor activities like hiking, mountain biking, and kayaking. The downside is of course, the crowds.
Transportation & Getting Around: Getting to Canmore is relatively easy, with several transportation options available
By Air: The closest major airport to Canmore is Calgary International Airport (YYC), approximately an hour drive to Canmore. From there, you can rent a car or arrange a shuttle service.
By Car: Canmore is accessible via the Trans-Canada Highway (Highway 1), from Calgary. It is also one of the most beautiful and scenic drives, especially if you’re coming from British Columbia.
By Shuttle or Bus: Shuttle services operate between Calgary Airport and Canmore, offering convenient transpiration options if you don’t have a car. But once you’re in Canmore, you will definitely need a car to get around.
The Banff Airporter Shuttle runs every hour or two hours straight to Canmore, depending on time of day and season, and costs about 75CAD one way. It also runs from Canmore back to the Calgary Airport.
